I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and come from a tight-knit family consisting of my mom, dad, older brother, and the most loveable golden retriever. Two things to know about me are that I love comedy and I love pop culture and I love to mix the two into my academics and hopefully soon, real-world experience.
Since the ripe age of 12, I have had a deep appreciation for comedy writing. Growing up watching The Tonight Show and old SNL reruns has helped me develop a true passion for seeking good writing and even better comedy. I enjoyed it so much that my intro song for my Bat Mitzvah party was the song Jimmy Fallon walks out to every show called “Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey” played by The Roots. The Tonight Show combined my favorite two things, comedy and pop culture.
I love to immerse myself in pop culture. I am often the person people go to when they see something about a celebrity in the media and want to know more information about it. I am not always conscious of it but I am constantly doing research. I research future projects an artist is working on, dissect lyrics to songs, listen to podcast interviews, and one of my favorite things, find easter eggs laid by directors or songwriters.
I am interested in pursuing a career in public relations and/or social media marketing because if I am going to know everything about the life of a famous stranger, I might as well make it profitable! My constant need for knowledge blends well with the importance of research in public relations. Being aware of a company or brand’s message, how they are perceived by their consumers, and how they interact with their target audiences is of utmost importance. I also consider myself to be a chameleon writer. I have my own unique writing style but can adapt according to what the client needs. I can range from comedy writing to crisis management writing and everything in between.
Below are some of my writing samples.
